Yes I am also interested. Because magnaflow11229 is effective and efficient to use and it increas horse power up to 40:cheers1:.

 

that is not as long as the stock muffler, the 11229 chamber is 14" long and 20 long overall, so it is still more quiet than the smaller magnaflow muffler. the stock muffler is 30 long overall,so whenever you switch out the stock you will most likely need an extension. i put my muffler in the center of the 30 inch gap and put an extension on each side just in case i changed my mind again and went to a bigger muffler it would be quick and easy in the future. i dont think you are going to find a muffler that is the same size as stock, if you did it would probably be as quiet as stock.

 

Exactly, if it the same size, it will sound the same. You more need to make sure you get one that is 3in ceneter inlet and 3in offset outlet from whatever manaufacturer you go with. The shorter the muffler, the more sound you will get.

do that and take off resonator you will be fine.

 

If the muffler is the same length, would you get the same effect if you just removed the resonator?

 

ive done the swap the 5x8x30 magnflow is smaller body and in turn sounds beefier.

i would just keep resonator put a 4x9x14 on it and call it good. the 5x8x30 replacing stock muffler and no resonator sounds better than keeping the stock muffler in and removing resonator.

 

I used the 11219 and the muffler shop installed it for 30 bucks

My friend just had one installed at a local exhaust shop and they had to add an extension piece of pipe? is there a Magnaflow exhaust muffler that is longer to directly replace the stock muffler?

I thought this was why the 11229 was recommended for our trucks

looking for similar sound as the 11229, a little louder and very little if any drone while cruising!!
