Plug wires for long tube install

Are new plug wires really needed for a long tube header install? My long tubes came in and was wondering, I thought I recently seen a install with the stock plug wires but they added heat socks at the lower boot area. Just wondering before I make an order.

Depending on how old your wires are, they break when taking them off. I went to change my plugs and all my wires broke so i wound up buying pcm wires with heat socks . It would be a good time to do while you are there

I would go ahead and get new wires. I've never installed OBX personally (we do a lot of Kooks and Pacesetter here) but if they are anything like the ones I've seen, the 90 degree angle on the plug side is likely going to get into a primary or two.

We sell MSD's which are a nice option for $70 (black or red) and have a bendable bottom boot to clear primaries. We also sell our own brand PCM of NC, they have a 45 degree boot on the bottom to clear the primary.

Pcmforless wires with heat socks. Had msd wires on mine when I bought it and had nothing but issues with them coming off of the spark plugs and burning on my headers. After replacing them with pcmforless wires I haven't had any issues to date. The msd wires never felt tight on the plugs but the pcmforless wires "pop" onto the plugs when installing them.

Yea idk why the ones I had did that. I found out the original owner had the same issues that I was having with them. Guess they should of been replaced a long time ago. It sucked because when one would come off it wouldn't misfire unless I was under heavy load or going up hills.

The lower boots didn't seem to hold up very well on my msd wires. They were cracked and looked like they were dry rotted but sill very pliable..

Well I was thinking about doing the MSD's but now I think I'll just spring the couple extra dollars and do the PCM's and heat socks. Thanks for all the input guys

I will honestly say those are the nicest wires I have ever seen. All the guys at my shop said the same thing. Worth the extra money over the msd wires in my opinion. Just make sure you get the heat socks with them.

I have had a couple issues with the msd wires popping off on 2 and 4. If I keep having issues they will be replaced with the pcmofnc wires.

Hate to say it man, I would do it now. Mine would do it at the worst timing ever. Last time happen when I was on a 700 mile road trip.

My MSD wires are very tight. I have a set of PCMofNC wires waiting for my next spark plug change.

I have the PCM wires and socks on the way. Hopefully next weekend I can install the long tubes, converter and 4" fwi with LS7 MAF
