GTO....killed him

Sweet burnt orange GTO w/young kid and his girlfriend. Always hear him revving and toying around town, sounds badass. Finally seen him ahead weaving through traffic pulling beside a vette reving and trying to race, thought it might be a three car race but vette didnt bother. I weaved through traffic and passed him and waved as i reved then got caught in traffic he then put his signal on and waved as he turned onto country road so ofcourse I followed got on his bumper knowing he was gonna punch it. Heard him down shift so I nailed it easily whipping around him on double yellow road pulling away more and more till I hit 100 and let off. Heard his car screaming as he ripped through gears. I seriously ate him alive, kinda suprised me. His gf was prob thinking WTF just happened that was an suv. LOL!!!

Thought LS2 because of color but not sure w/the way I smoked him. Thought they were faster than that.
I have Yank3600 stall, built trans and just about every bolt-on. Should easily run 12's w/good air. Ran 13.41 with Yank TC only....not even a cold air intake or tune at the time. I do have a GM crate motor also which seemed worlds dif than original LS2, not sure why

FWIW, I've seen a LOT of GTO's (both the LS1 and 2) not break into the 14's without the DriverMod.

Good runs, regardless.

I would have been so pissed if I bought a GTO with an LS1 then next year it had an LS2.

Yeah drivermod for sure.. My trailblazer is Trans and stall boltons.. Went 13.2 here in crap air.. My 04 goat went 13.3 stock.. M6 ..

Just got back from track

I just got back from the track. Ran 13.37 and 13.39 in very hot and humid weather. I was pretty happy w/times especially knowing Im carrying so much extra weight. Always forget to mention I have 5 TV's in SS with tons of audio and video wiring and equip. I did remove the two 15" subwoofers at the track but not when I smoked the GTO. Hahaha

why are there 5 tv's in your tbss?

One in dash, 2-in headrests, sunvisor, 1-in cargo area. I had all of them out of my previous Yukon Denali so decided to put them in my SS. Im big into audio and video

Unless it's a re-paint, it's an '06 Goat (Brazen Orange Metallic = BOM). BOM was only available in '06.

Each year had a one year only color(s) ...
- 06 was BOM, SRM (Spice Red Metallic)
- 05 was MBM (Midnight Blue Metallic)
- 04 was Cosmos Purple

If you catch an auto Goat in the right spot in a roll, they have a real dead spot in the gearing. If it was a 6 speed, then the guy wasn't much of a driver.

With your mods and the TBSS gearing, it can definitely help make up for the weight disadvantage (probably close to 700-800 lbs) ... especially if it was an auto.

Stock for stock though ... well, almost stock for stock (both my vehicles have tunes and such) the Goat has an edge (at least mine does over my TBSS).

I agree with you ken.. My goat stock for stock over my tbss .. Im also a 6sp.. Tbss may get a jump but 3rd gear in a gto pull sooo hard..

Wasn't it about the same time that we were getting members with crate engines dynoing stronger that the Corvette #s went from 400/400 to 420/400 with the LS2, pre-LS3 entry into the mix?

GTO driver needed the driver mod. No way you should have passed him like that with him having an M6. (assuming he had an M6). My GTO pulled harder in 3rd gear then my SS has at any time in any gear. And Kenmosher, I thought that the 05 MBM was Midnight Blue Metallic? None the less, them GTO's are a lot of fun!:p

Ended up meeting the GTO owner



Met the GTO owner and he was loving my SS. He was at local dragstrip. He was bragging on my TBSS saying he couldnt stand a chance. He has 6-speed trans and also Kooks headers, thought it sounded badass.
That night at track ran 5 passes all of them 13.0's

Makes you wish the trailblazer was a 1000 lbs lighter and had a 6 Speed

my stock 05 6sp gto runs 13.00s at 110 he needs to learn how to drive next time you see him get him to pull over and walk up to the window and punch him right in the c**ksucker what a douche great kill though no one ever wants to race me in my ss probably becaue its completely debadged and everyone thinks its a normal tb lol
