I have a good friend that swares up and down that he will beat me. He has a 87 monte carlo ss with a 305. He's spending lots of money just to see if he can have a laugh and beat me with a 305. We raced a couple times and it seem like he would need maybe another 75-100 hp. Well he bought a cam, roller rockers, ported and polished his heads(stock), and put a 4:10 gear. I still dont belive he will beat me. What much more can you really do to a 305. He already has full exhaust and a dominator carb. Whats crazy is that motor was only rated at 190 hp.

He's ass out... No one goes fast in those cars w/ the 305. Almost all the ones I see in the 10s are carrying a BB.... He's out of his mind. I have those same mods in my LT1 car w/ a 3400 stall on slicks and still only run mid 12s. The 12.7 pass was out of fuel at the 1/8th but it should go 12.4-5 around 107. He's not beating you...

They were only 180 hp...so even worse ;). I had an '86 SS which I loved. At the time it was pretty quick, but wouldn't even have run with my '00 GTP let alone the TBSS. If he stay with the 305 he's gonna have his work cut out for him. The Monte would be a great car to have with an obscense amount of power on tap.

This is hilarious. I told him I made this post. He is prolly looking at the screen shaking his head in denile. I'm actually very impressed with his car. I've been with him on numerous occasions when he has beat some ok cars. Mustangs Camaros and such. Its almost to hard to believe its just a 305. I had to put something in for his sake. I'm going to stomp a mudhole and he knows it lol!

There was a MC SS I saw on the main drag downtown about two wks ago. I was walking back from lunch and I saw him. He had a big blower sticking out of the hood. It sounded loud enough. Well, he launches it against a Taurus. It got up and went, but not like I think of a blown V8 doing. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Let me put it this way...I have a 91 Camaro RS that's an original 305 car and has a TBI 350 swap in her, and I can see STILL needing a damn good amount of money to get her to keep up with a TBSS. I got her damn cheap and she runs HELLA strong though, all I care about with this car.

tell him to remove the body and run you w/ just the bare min. to make it close it's a 305. had a friend in highschool w/ a 305 in a maro w/ a supercharger and i'de out run him from light to light w/ my 87' pickup (i was locked in 4 low and had 4.11 gears)

I had a 1987 Monte SS and they come from the factory with 180 HP. I think it weighs about 3,600. I ran mine stock and turned a 15.9 at 83 I think. Many years ago so I don,t really remember much. I do remember there was another Monte ss that only turned da 16.4. He has no chance.

We both are recording this race so I will post it probley sometime this weekend. I'm about to make him build a motor. He just build this 305 for laughs but he spent alot of money. he's going to be sideways when I woop his ass.

There actually was a guy at our track rental a week or two ago, that had a Monte with an LS2 in it. Once he got that one legger to hook, he ran high 11's.. Nice ride too, very clean.

unless he installed the 305 from this red IROC i read about in a HotRod magazine a while back that was running 9's, full weight, i think you're fine lol...

btw, the guy who owns the IROC said he likes the 305 over the 350 due to the combustion chamber blah blah blah of the 305 being more efficient.. and he used a Vortech sprayin meth.. street driven 305 IROC in the 8's... Matt didn't believe it either until i showed him the article lol..

here's a quote from another forum about the 9sec 305 IROC " I could be wrong, but he is the only one I remember in GM HighTech, with a 305, that fast. His car was not on the cover, but on the top of the cover it says "Blown" 9-SECOND' 85 IROC. Its the May 98 issue, I have it right here in front of me." funny shit isn't it? i had one that ran high 14's & thought that was fast back then lol..

We raced today infront of my store. Well the good news is that I beat him from a dead dig and from a roll. Bad news is he blew his motor. His oil pressure went to 10psi and would not move no matter what rpm he was at. Got it home and it started knocken. So now he wants to do a stroker crank and a full roller camshaft. He will never give up until he beats me with a 305. By that time I will have a 500+rwhp tbss. Sorry didnt get this one on camera.

Those things are slowwww as all get-up! I had 2 friends with them and my 1984 Buick 1.8 turbo 4-cyl Skyhawk could eat them both for lunch and stock my Buick was a 15.4 1/4 mile!
