Just wondering what my oil pressure should be while the truck is at idle?

Is 40 about 1/2 way? I can't remember, but mine sits right about 1/2 at idle.

so which one is it? bc mine is around 25 according to my aeroforce
Technically--both.

Always. Pressure comes from restriction.

Manufactures/engineers still go by the 10psi for every 1000rpm rule. Idle pressure is much higher today that they were many years ago and all because of volume. An old skool SBC, right up to the LT1 of the mid ‘90’s had the oil warning lights and sensors preset to 3-5 psi. That doesn’t sound like much because it isn’t. However the engines would function normally at anything above that level and the average idle rpm was 650.

Today’s LS engines go by the same rules but because the engine profile is “high performance out of the box”, the standards were raised a bit and warning lights and sensors are preset to 10psi.

And then on the TBSS, they put that stupid pop-off valve in the oil pan. :fist:
