It was all smoke really. The guys where there with the extinguishers while it was smoking, and nothing happened at first. Then I guess the heat caused it to flash, kinda like a poof. No big flames, just a poof then they hit it with the extinguishers in like 2 seconds. Not even any burn marks. I have it cleaned up with degreaser, and you cant see any damage to anything..... LOL
It happened on pass two. I was having wastegate issues. It was at 13-14psi on pass one. Then I tried to turn up the boost. So I turned it in 3 turns, and it went down to 12psi. Its a 14-17psi spring, so Im like WTH? Someone said give it 3 more turns, did that and went down the frontage road, and boost went back up to 13.5 psi again. So I gave it about 3 more turns, and ran out of time to test, so I just went in line as the last call came for the fastest SS vs cobalt races. Forgot to look at the boost on the run, but the data log had 11.6 to 11.7 on all the WOT stuff, which is 11.4 to 11.5 actual as the wideband doesnt match HPT perfectly.
No knock either on the 115 octane. That stuff is awesome for anybody who is curious. Was running 16 degrees timing at peak torque, and 18 degrees at WOT. Thats with a 10.9 compression motor on 13.5psi of boost. FWIW I was at 11 degrees across the board on E85, was still adding timing when I bent the crank. So dont know how much is left with that, but Im going back to E85, and adding another pump, and if needed, bigger lines and see how much I have left in the injectors when I get this running again.
