TBSS shuts off while driving

First let me start off with thanking anyone with helpful input. Secondly, I have searched (this sight and Google in general) and I have some ideas as to what could be causing this. However, I wanted to post up and get any input from others incase something from my situation is different.

This first happened about 2 weeks ago, I was slowing down for a turning car and all of the sudden my tbss shut off and wouldnt start back up. After sitting in the middle of the road for what seemed like years, I got someone to help me push the truck off to the shoulder. I sat there for about 5-10 minutes with the truck off, then cranked it over and it started up, but it had triggered a CEL. I immediately had the CEL checked and these are the codes that came up:
C0455- Steering wheel angle sensor
C0196- Yaw rate sensor
C0186- lateral accelerometer

After having these read, I took the truck home. Did a little research online and then went to leave to go to a buddies house to look things over. At this point, when I started the truck up, the CEL had gone off.

Fast forward to today. I am driving to work (about a 25 mile commute) and 2/3's of the way there it shuts off again. Same thing, sat for a couple minutes and then it fired back up. It did it 7 times on my way into work. I work across from an Advanced Auto so I had them check it out again on the CEL. Same codes popped up, but this time it also added "Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum".

Now in my reseach, I have seen where a lot of people are saying its the ignition switch. I am gonna try that out and see what happens, but I also got the suggestion that it may be the BCM. What's everyones thought on this? I have been told the BCM is common on Chevy's, and trailblazers heavily.

Here is a pic of the lights that come on as soon as the truck shuts off

Thanks,
Ian

Sounds like the ign switch to me. Bcm shouldnt cause the engine to die.
Thanks for the response! I have an ignition switch being held for me until I get out of work. We shall see if it helps, ha!
Try the ignition switch, cheap test for $30-40. If it still does it and that checksum error comes up again, you might need to look for a new ECM.

Afraid to ask, what's an ECM gonna run me?

$150-$350 depending on year and where you get it, + programming charge.

Not too bad. It's an 06, which I understand to be different from other years? And as far a programming, that something a tuner can do or Chevy?
The 06 is an E40. I would have your original ECM reflashed first before buying a new one, but before you do any of that, replace the IGN switch.

Ok, thank you
Well, ignition switch replaced and I drive it to work just fine. Leave work a couple hours later and it shuts off again. The joys of of a tbss I guess
Checksum is ecm. Reflash or replace.

Checksum means programming has been changed.
For anyone following along, or for future reference, i dropped it off at Chevy for diagnosis. Turned out to ecm. I should have it back tmr evening.
Bummer, sounds to me like its time to call up a tuner and order a new tuned ECM+TCM. Be cheaper than buying a new ECM from the dealer and you get a tune out of it!

Sorry to hear it went out on you, these ECMs are overall pretty reliable.
Just wanted to chime in and say last couple days my Service Stabilitrak warning has been comming on intermittently with the same 3 codes mentioned above, C0455, C0196 and C0186 however my truck hasn't shut off or anything. Simply cycle the key and goes away.

I suspect the steering angle sensor is bad just because it seems to click or pop when I turn right about 1-2 o'clock but the other 2 codes puzzle me. I saw there's a TSB for an updated EBCM software. I may try that when I take it in for the door recall.

I own a 2006 tbss, and have recently been dealing with a similar issue. The 2 codes that pull up on mine are P0689 & P1682-wireless ignition module. Not sure what else to do, I might have to resort to the dealership. If you don’t mind me asking how did the dealership charge?

Pretty sure its your fuse block. If you have access to a multimeter I can walk you through some tests to confirm. These fuse blocks typically break in the same spot which disables the control circuit for the powertrain relay. The ECM receives 2 ignition voltage inputs. One from the IGN Switch and the other is feedback from the powertrain relay. When the fuse block breaks, the powertrain relay no longer powers on. So the ECM is seeing 12v coming from the IGN switch but there is 0v coming from the powertrain relay when there should be 12v. The ecm then sets p1682 because it is seeing voltage on 1 IGN pin and not both, and it sets p0689 because it is not getting feedback from the powertrain relay.
