I am looking for a ski rack for the winter for my SS. Does anyone know if there a a universay ski rack that we can put on our trucks?

When i go to the Thule or Yakimita websites... they say there is no fit for the TBSS...

Anyone running ski racks on theirs and if so where did you get it and how much... and please post pictures.

There is no universal kit for the TBSS, I have searched and tried many options.

I ended up getting permanent "slot rails" installed on the roof and have attachable feet that can be taken on and off easily. These feet then attach to a cross bar where you could add any rack type. Without the feet attached you can't even tell there is a rack and looks stock.

hope this helps:cheers1:

anyone got a solution for carrying a kayak?

my bro has a 10.5 footer and I have put it in the TBSS with the backseat down and left the glass open, for a fairly short trip...Want to buy one but don't have a way of transporting it cause I hated having that thing in the truck...

I see kayak trailors but for over a grand, can't justify it...any hitch kayak carriers? i don't see any other than....

and then I gotta watch the roof.

you should do the hitch thing. its a 1000 times easier to manage and you wont have people tossing gear up top or straps scratching the shit outta your paint up there after a long day.

Plus the hitch thing can move to another vehicle after you're eventually done with the tbss.

just my :2cents:

I emailed Yakima and asked them if I could get enough people to buy a rack system if they would creat one and they basically said that I should go with a rail system... So I think we are on our own here.

I think I am going to order that universal one that I posted earlier and see how that goes... I can let everyone know.

Since my 9-7x Aero comes with rails, I'm wondering if the SS is equipped to take same. I'll look up there later this morning to see where the rails attach into the roof. I bought GM bars that clamp onto the rails to support my Thule carrier. It turns out the rails just bolt directly into the roof via a few Torx-type bolts. They extend from just above the rear gate and 7/8 of the way forward. The tapering design doesn't allow for bars to be mounted all the way at the ends but i have no problem with a Thule Atlantis 2100 up there. Hopefully this link works and you can see them here:
