Imagine a warped metal disc spinning like a top and you slowly lower a piece of sandpaper down on it. It randomly pops up at any speed almost always while slighty turning left. I've never heard an ABS system sound like a scraping noise when it turns on and my brake pedal doesn't vibrate, but it is on-and-off real fast like ABS.

Sounds exactly like a hub. Mine did the exact same thing, but hub didn't really show wear. Changed out hub and the noise was gone. As for the stabilitrak I would take a close look at the reluctor teeth and the densitometer pick ups on all 4 corners. Make sure there's not a bunch of crap built up in the reluctor wheels on the axles. If so just take some brake cleaner with a straw and clean everything real good. I've seen a similar issue when the reluctor was full of grease and brake dust. You could also have a bad or intermittent sensor.

Is there any way to test it before blowing my load on a new one? I'm not one to just throw parts at something until it's fixed.

Get somebody to ride along side you and try and pinpoint where the noise is coming from exactly and start from there.

The scraping noise is the brakes being applied by the stabilatrac. Sometimes when it activates it can apply the brake quite hard. On the Vettes it would lock up one brake at 70mph on the front L or R side and try to though the car off the highway. The problem isn't as bad for the TBSS luckily but still an issue. GM's "STABILATRAC" is the problem.

I have a way to make the stabilitrack stay off every time it's started.

ITs not beem Tested on a TBSS "YET" but I am sure it will work. Let me contact the guy who makes them and see if he still wants to test on on a TBSS.

Any update on this? Will it still bring up the ABS/brake/traction control light?

But the truck doesn't slow down and the wheels don't jerk or anything.

Does it fall on its face? Kills the engine for 3-5 seconds? If so that is how the stabilicrap behaves on the trailblazer.

Oh and actually hitting the brake pedal while it's doing it doesn't change the noise at all.

I am having a similar issue lately. Mostly a ghost, sorry to highjack but where is the sensor for the steering?

Did you pull the fuse (#58 or #61) to disable Stabilatrac? I'd pull it just to make sure that is the only problem. The scrapy noises is livable, the fall on your face part is not. I pulled the fuse and the power cut still happens. Must be in the tune, because once the car's oil temp exceeds 160 the problem stops.

I pulled my #61 fuse a couple of weeks ago. The Stabilitrac just can't handle 500+ HP. They act funky with 400 HP. Good luck with the fix on this.

I've had this happen everytime i drove it for about 2 weeks straight about a month or 2 ago. Then it's stopped and hasn't done it again since. Nothing has been changed, didn't touch tire pressure, fuses or tune. My truck was completely stock when this happened, but I'm about to get a new tune and CAI, but nothing is installed yet. Will the tune help, hurt, or not affect it at all?

It shouldn't affect it at all, unless you're modding enough to put over 450 hp to the wheels. (I think that's the number) I believe at that hp rating the stabilitrac disables itself as it knows it can't handle that much power. (Or something like that)
