Sell as is or engine swap and sell

I have a 2007 Trailblazer SS awd that threw a rod through the block at 145k miles. I am looking for a little insight as im trying to decide to have a new engine put in before I sell the truck or to just sell it as it sits. Not sure if it’s worth dumping money into it to get more out of it or if it would be smarter to just sell it as is with the hole in the block. What do you think it would be worth with blown motor. Truck is in good condition other than one fender the paint is peeling. Thanks!!

Peeling paint, 145k miles, didn't say what trim, color or drive it is but if we assume it's a rwd 1SS... It's like a 10-12k truck.

So given that, needing a motor, it's probably worth 0 to 2k.

lol I did say it’s a 2007 awd. It is blue with the leather/cloth seats, lowered with black oem rims, dual exhaust. Interior is in excellent condition. Only flaw is peeling front driver side fender
So it's probably a 13-15k truck fixed. Are you gonna swap the motor or pay someone to do it? I figure you've probably got a 10k plus bill for an ls2 and the swap costs.

With a blown motor, people have to "trust" that the trans is good, the suspension is fine, brakes, etc. I think it'd be tough to sell it for more than 3k without a motor. Having a bad fender hurts that too.

I don't think you're going to make appreciably more by fixing it. But you open up your potential buyers a lot because most people don't want to buy a non running vehicle and hope for the best.

If you can do the work yourself and have the time, you can do a L92 block and heads and such and make more power for a lot less than the 10k estimate.

If not, I'd just list it as is for 3500 and see what you get. Maybe someone wants a project.
