Everybody has to sell HPTuners for the same bottom line. I would say the benefit is doing business with Alvin (or your vendor of choice) instead of just entering your card number into the HPT website. I would also suspect that you will get your package quicker than by going direct through HPT.:2cents:

what are the differences between the 2

You need a laptop for this, right?

I have a work one that I could probably use, I'm just wondering.

Yes and no.

You have to have a computer to write/read tunes. In theory you could use a 25' USB cable it it would reach your home PC.

When it comes to scanning, the enhanced version will log without a computer and you can take the box into the house and read the scan.

I dont use mine that option Rob. You are welcome to borrow mine to scan and if you want to buy credits ($99) you can write your own tune to the ECM.

Of course its nice to have your own so you can update tunes at will.

How many credits come with either package from HPT?

Thanks for the offer, Rich, I might take you up on that.

Still debating on weather or not it's worth getting the pro version. I have a wide band sitting here, but I honestly don't plan on doing a whole lot to my truck. Most major thing will be nitrous, possible this summer. It's just gonna get the basic bolt-ons, some tranny work, and possibly some nitrous by this summer. Honestly, is it worth it. Or should I save the 150 and put it towards something else?

Thats up to you. Don't think your stuck with it as you can update it later. I believe the cost to upgrade is more than if you went with pro in the start.

We use PRO on the dyno to monitor fuel pressure and intake vaccum among other things. I'm going to eventually use those magnetic thermocouples with it to log trans and diff temperatures.

I bought the non pro and then a week later I realized it was a mistake. And yes there is a premium when you buy the standard and then upgrade.

I would think NOS is a good enough reason alone to buy it. I would feel a lot batter looking at AFR on my log after making a spraying pass.

Even for general AFR tuning using WB to tune will cut to the chase a lot quicker than trying to do it with trims.

And finally its very nice to take the Pro version to the track and plug it in without a computer and record all your runs. Just plug it into the PC later and download and view.

If you want to use it as more of a tune loading device, then go with the standard.

Yeah, since i've already got a wide band sittin here not bein used. Might as well use it. Soon as I get my tax return I'll be orderin the pro.. One other question. I see some poeple going in together and splitting the cost on the HPT. how's that work. I know it has multiply credits. So, how does that work between a few cars?

That's crazy that you can tune 4 of em for the same price...lol... I thought it was 2 for motor and 2 for trans...

That's the great thing about HP Tuners... Andy can email you the tune and you can put it in yourself... no more shipping!

I ordered an HP Tuner from Alvin because it was the easiest & most expedient way to install a tune. Not cheap, but easy.

After receiving the HP Tuner, I downloaded the stock tune from my TBSS to the HPT (connected via laptop).

I then sent the stock tune to Alvin via email

Alvin sent a modified tune to me via email

I uploaded the tune to my TBSS

WAHOO - an amazing difference in throttle response.

PM me if you need more details.

HP Tuners can be as complex or as easy as you want. If all you want to do is upload/download a tune, it is VERY easy. Then, you an diddle with parameters to your hearts content; safe in knowing that you can always return to your stock tune or any other tune that you have saved.

I'm a VERY happy customer!:cheers1:
