Painting the XM/OnStar Antenna

I'm going to be painting something on the SS (you'll have to wait and see :biggrin2:) and I'm going to have quite a bit of silverstone metallic paint (and all of the necessary items to paint plastic) left over and I was thinking about painting the XM/OnStar antenna to match. First off, what do you guys think? Second, do you think this would severely reduce the signal strength?

I'm kind of on the fence about it. If I do it though, I'm going to sand it smooth, lay down some plastic adhesion promotor, plastic primer, 2-3 coats of paint and some clear.
i would leave it black.... what are you painting? if your painting the black on the mirrors or someother black trim then you might want to paint it just to blend it in.
I'm painting the inset bowtie on the molded hitch cover the same color as the car.
Paint it up! Let us know! I bet if you take your time it will turn out nice! I would use a shit load of clear on top!
I'd like to get a backup just in case it looks like shit. Does anyone have a part #?
