Royal purple is the best stuff and doesnt burn away like mobil 1.

I used Ryal Purple once in my Honda and in 3000 miles it came out with the consistency of water and burned all to hell...I will never run that stuff!

If you must run an aftermarket racing oil, use Red Line...

I stick with with GM recommends and use the Mobil 1 5W30...Im a schmuck though, so dont take my advice too much to heart!

I always use ACDelco filters because they have a check valve to retain oil in the filter for start-ups...Fram, K&N, Wix, etc. dont have that...

I agree...unless your off the warranty reservation already I would stick to Mobil one...and not the extended life flavor just strait up Mobile one...now AC Delco filters... they just ain't what they used to be...they just "feel" cheap now, It's like they changed them overnight, They used to have a "beefy" feel to the case now it is this "tinny" cheap look and feel...then again I haven't found a suitable replacement yet...so yes there is one on mine right now.

I will be selling Amsoil and am working on getting a site up and running for that. Amsoil is just as good or better than any other synthetic fluid out there. They also promote an extended drain interval (25K).

Here is a link to the oil: http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atm.aspx
And one for the filters: http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/eao.aspx

Give me a few days and I will have the site up and running and you will be able to find out more information and ordering will be available.

MikeG:I used to Run Amsoil exclusively in the Snowmobiles that I was Racing cause I felt comfortable running it "lean"as hell(on the oil side) cause it was just that good of oil less chance of fouling the exhaust slide valves.
Come to think of it "they" make a great filter...very tight micron sizing 15 microns...

This oil filter study was published several years ago -- keep in mind things may have changed since then.

Study:
http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html

I've had problems with Fram products as mentioned in this report -- and I discontinued the use of all Fram products (except for HP series filters) before I read this. The lack of effective anti-drainback and oil pressure problems on a high-mileage vehicle I own, forced me to change to Mobil 1 or K&N filters.

According to the specs, Mobil 1 and K&N employ anti-drainback valves for the LS2.

i use M1 oil and either M1 filter or K&N which both have check valves which is stated on the box they come in i use the 15k mile oil and change it every 3k then put the used oil in my ford escort beater for another 5-6k and it is still not black when i am done .
