I bought this transmission temp gauge: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-4357/

Im trying to install it where the black plastic SS cap is located. My problem is I can't seem to get the thing to install/mount up. It came with a black plastic mounting ring that fits from behind. However, the plastic hole is to large so the gauge just wants to slide right through the hole. Do I need to modify the plastic SS cap (cut out the center) and then use that to keep the gauge from sliding through? Do I need to buy additional spacers/mounting brackets, or am I missing something here? Also, what 12V power source would be recommened to tap into, cig lighter?

Thanks
Aaron

as for the 12 volt source, id just tap into ur ignition wire! to run wires thru the firewall id just go thru the big grommet to the left of your brake pedal!
