Hi all MN SS owners, i am moving to brooklyn Park area in January from Peoria Illinois. I was wondering how you guys get on in the winter. I have a AWD. This is pretty much the daily driver / family wagon and was wondering how it will hold up on std wheels.

Well, I live in Blaine 2 miles north of BP. But I can't tell you about the winter since this will be my first with the TBSS. Mines a DD, and it's 2wd, and I plan on driving it year round. The winters have not been that bad. I have had 4wd trucks since I've been 18, now 29, and I can only recall maybe 4 or 5 times a "really" needed 4wd. I bought a 2wd for the fun factor, and also I had a Tahoe with Stabiltrac, and never had a problem in the winter leaving it in 2wd.

Put it this way, we use a lot of salt and sand. The main roads get plowed pretty quickly.

Welcome to the area! (when you get here, lol). I live in Ramsey, about 15 min west of BP.

You will have no problems with the TBSS in the winter. Mine was my daily last winter and I had no problems at all. The stock tires aren't the greatest for snow, but the AWD more than makes up for it. When it snows we will definitely take the TBSS and leave the wife's minivan at home. Besides, like blueovalkiller said, we almost never get more than 6" at a shot anymore. Once or maybe twice a year usually, and they always plow right away. The only place you even need the awd is parking lots, driveways, and maybe neighborhood roads. They use ALOT of salt/sand though, so if you haven't already, get the 3M film on the sides of your truck.

Welcome to MN. I live about 2 hours south of you but get to the cities regularly. I drove mine last winter on stock tires and it did fine(im AWD). Plus they never plow the roads around here. This year I bought a set of 17" rims and snow tires because i had some extra money just to be safe, but if you have AWD i wouldnt worry about it.

Thanks all for the words of confidence. I drove mine here last winter in Illinois and it was fine. I have the 3M film (after last winter). Hopefully when i get up there we can hook up sometime. We are really looking forward to moving at End of january when it will be a bit cool.

Two winters down in my TBSS with no problems. I did put some molded mudflaps on the front of mine to keep the snow/slush/salt of the sides of my doors. The front wheels throw that crap front to back up to the windows. Stock tires are ok, with the tractions control on, should have no problems.
Welcome to MN.

where did you get the molded flaps and how much? that pissed me off a lot last winter
Can't remember the brand, but I bought them at a Checker or Bumper to Bumper. They are designed for the normal Trailblazer fronts, which our TBSS's are. Only cost about $15 per set, number 6 style?
I added sticky backed velcro to hold the outside inplace, to keep it from rubbing the paint on the lower trim.
Keeps the rocks from chipping the paint on the lower rear passenger doors.
