I thought lasers are not used a lot. Its mostly radar to get speed. Lasers need to be aimed and held on a target for a longer period of time to get a measurement.

Laser jammers do work. My uncle has one that he uses traveling from here to where he keeps his boat on lake Michigan.

In my travels my Valentine detector has not seen a laser in the last 6 months ! Well except an occasional false trigger from a 3rd brake light on a..... friggin trailblazer :)

NJ troopers seem to be using them a lot lately. Especially on 80...my Escort lights up like a firecracker when I get hit with laser too.

Not that kind of escort JJ......

I've got an Escort Passport 8500 X50 and it picks up laser like a firecracker. The cops in MD mostly use radar on the roads but by the airport they've got lasers.

I thought jammers were expensive and illegal though. Is it really worth the risk?

Yeah in NJ and the NE they shoot alot of Lazer, see those fuckers aiming them down the road like a movie camera.

the built in units work the best IMO, Belltronics is pretty good I am told but rather pricy $1500 installed. re3member im talking about bumper mounted diffusers and a small controller with audio and visual indication.

Most cities in Va dont use Laser. A few state boys do, but not many. We use the conventional radar. Radar detectors are illegal in Virginia, so dont get caught with one!

I know this law has been around for a while and it is not the only state, but this is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Can you even buy them there?

I might why should you not be able to use a device that reads the open airwaves for different signals. I mean, it is not a FCC protected frequency.

no, RADAR jammers are illegal. LASER jammers are perfectly legal

truth about illegal... but as soon as I get the money Im getting one out of state and bringing it back.... Its just a ticket and if it works it should be worth the risk.

Im thinking of running a stealth setup I saw, it will take some time to install but no one will be able to see it unless you point it out to them.

yeah, the systems you're referring to are usually around $1000+. but like you said, if you're in an area where you dont need it to be seen it'd be worth it

if you have a little knowledge about electronics... and dont mnid breaking something open and extending the wires it can be done fairly cheap.

yep. I did it in my car once, and did it for several installs at the shop I worked at in college.

You simply have to be able to solder ribbon cables or other cabling into the main PCB and extend the wires for all the stuff. Then, you mount all the LEDs or displays wherevr you want.

We did this for JR Reid, when he was on the SA Spurs in the mid 90s. He lived in Virginia and we helped him get around that dumbass law.
