Could be a simple question. Looking around at ARH/Kooks/SW headers. Seeing all are around $1500 or so, why when I see Jet-Hot coated Kooks they seem to only be around $1k with the y-pipe. A catless y from Kooks seems to run around $600 alone, and Kooks LT are over $1k. From my little bit of research, the coating wouldn't be a negative. But why would a complete setup of Jet-Hot coated Kooks (LTs and catless Y) be only ~$1000? Am I missing something? Does the coating devalue the setup somehow?

Hopefully this description came across as clear as it did in my head. Looking to see what the catch is here...

Maybe its not stainless thats coated? Like pacesetter has their armourcoat or whatever that is coated over steel LTs. Thats all i can see a price reflect for.

When I was in the marked for a pair of headers for my CTSV I was told the quality of the Kooks through Jet Hot were not the same so I opted for the more expensive direct from Kooks.

Found out Jet-Hot uses 409 stainless whereas the regular Kooks are 304 stainless, so I guess that answers it?

304 has higher nickel content... And can take a great polish and stay that way. Like borla uses, for instance. 409 has higher carbon content and can actually corrode. Coating it makes it just as corrosion resistant as 304.... 304 is more expensive to buy from the mill

I actually knew this, however, I was pleased to get an answer like yours and made to feel stupid. We work with quite a variety of various metals and aluminum with our race cars. My older Brother is a collector and a vintage racer.

This is the rear couple thousand of space for engine and machine work. The newest addition GT and you can see the old Porsche back in the corner
I would say the total collection with a few other peoples cars that hang out there is well over 30 now.
