This guy I know just got a brand new SRT-8. My friend called me up before and said he wanted to run me. I was outta the house in a matter of seconds. We met up and took a ride over to an industrial area over here in NJ. Two runs both from a 20mph roll. Both times I left him for dead, but the second time was like 4-5 lengths and I hit about 130mph. I have hard time with those fuckers at the track cause they're 60ft times are fuckin retarded, but I trap about the same speed. Needless to say the street ain't no 1/4, and these things ain't shit off the track.

+1, also, if you trap about the same how the hell did you pull so hard?
Because it was a street race and there was no launch involved. The reason they're 1/4 times are so much better is because of they're 60ft times. This was done at a 20mph where our trucks hit the hardest and it was more like a 1/2 mile. I wasn't trapping 103 like at the track, I was hitting 125-130mph. Street and track are two different worlds.
What mods do you have? If you are stock I call BS for sure. Those trucks rock from the factory!
AWD- Wester's tuned by TuneTime, Volant CAI, de-screened MAF,Kooks LT's, custom Magnaflow exhaust, LS1 efans, U/D & ALT. pullies, and P&P LS7 TB.

with those mods, I could see it. When I had nothing more than a CAI and tune, there was one at the local 1/8 mi track the same time I was, and although he was out ET'ing me by about 2-3 tenths, my mph was slightly better than his every time. His only saving grace were his 60's, which were in the upper 1.7's, and lower 1.8's. Mine were in the upper 2.0's that night.

Well yeah, with those mods its possible. However, 1/4 traps are an indicator of a vehicles power, not what 60' they can pull. When you say they trap about the same that means your making the same power which is why I found it hard to believe.

They are stronger in the 1/4.

yeah, was at a BBQ today with a guy that has one, his best 60' was a 1.70... think about that??? he ran 13.2's when he was stock, but look at that 60'.. that equates to nearly .6 in the 1/4 over our "usual 2.0x 60's.... with minimal mods from a roll thy should go down...

Sorry boys I know we all have our opinions but........mine is that racing is from a dig and always will be, street or strip........besides, who the hell started racing from a roll unless your oval track?

The 60 ft means alot in the 1/4. I only wish ours was lower stock. Those SRT8's must really get it from a dig.
Everything builds on what you are already doing. So if you can cut that 60' you are already moving that much faster.

I felt the same way about the wicked SRT8. But there was one at the track last week. He had a 80 or 90# girl with him and I was turning times almost 2/10 faster. You can see my sig. Yank and P&P is not on the truck till next week.

So it can happen. The SRT8s have a better converter for racing than we do but they cant tow. Swap out the SS converter for something like the Yank I bought and you have a whole new animal. Low 13's in decent air!
