Is this a tough software to use? I was thinking of purchasing, but I have never had any tuning experience and was wondering what the best approach might be to learn how to use HPT.

I personally love the software with HPT. It definately has a learning curve to it but there is always an answer at your fingertips...eithier on there website or hitting the F1 key on what ever page your on with the editor. Just my $.02

If it's any help...I've never tuned anything, but after looking around the forums, and talking to people on here, I felt confident enough to buy it.

I got mine about a week ago and now I am starting to really see the value in it.

For me, after glancing over a few of the guides posted by various people and reading some forum posts, then a little experimenting, it seems rather intuitive. HP Tuners is very easy software to learn.

Now to learn all the quirks of GM's programming...that's the trick. (I think I have a good start on that as well).

I think honestly if you want to get Hptuners you shoudl consider buying a tune from a reputable vendor also. the reason is theres quite alot to learn that only experience can bring. Having a tune to start off with is like having a study manual or learning guide.

Yea that makes sense :cheers1:

The learning curve is too steep if you never have done it before. You really need to make small changes and test if you dont know what you are doing.

Getting a tuner to start it for you is a good idea. There are only a couple mail order tuners that I know of that will sell and unlocked tune. Make sure you get a good one as a bad one will have you going the wrong direction from the gitgo. Alvin that was NOT directed at you.

bwl101, think hard about getting the enhanced version off the bat. I ended up upgrading in 10 days which cost me more money.
