I'm either gonna install these myself, or pay someone to do it. My question is, do I need any kind of mounting bracket for these? Key word is NEED, if I don't need them I don't want them. Will depth (almost 2.5 inches) be an issue? these are some hefty boys and I want them to sound as good as possible. My only concern is mounting them. Any help is appreciated!

I'm using JL Audio C5-650's in my front doors without an adapter. They're 2.54" deep. You can compare dimensions here:

Yes you NEED good speaker rings. Buy some online made of plastic like abs or hdpe or delrin. Not the cheap shit you get from metra or similar that are thin and fragile. Basically solid rings. Like these, but there may be cheaper options out there. Nagy's 6.5

Don't buy wood ones.

You'll want CLD first, the ring a foam gasket and then the speaker. I use rivnuts to secure the ring.

Also install fast rings while you're at it. Optional cld tiles if you want to it right the first time...
