Can anyone confirm this is a ground wire and/or what it goes to? Where was it originally connected? I was just wiping some things down around the master cylinder and then felt the loose cable. Pulled it out and it looked like it belonged on the fuse block because it won’t really reach much else. It wasn’t attached to anything and I don’t think it’s been connected for a while, maybe the whole time I’ve had this truck. Everything seems to be functional so I’m lost. Please help.

Stock amplifier would make sense. I have a separate amp running everything and wouldn’t need that connected.

I was thinking aftermarket amp. But if you already have it and it’s working I’m probably wrong. Maybe someone else can chime in on what that wire is.

I sorta recall it gets mounted to the positive stud on the fuse block, if your trailer requires 12v constant power. I looked it up a couple years back.
But double check your owners manual. I’ve been wrong before.

And since your local, feel free to swing by Sterling Heights and steal my 2007 1SS. I still owe 8k on it??

Hood has not been off in my time with it. I dug thru my Haynes manual and there’s nothing about trailering or anything about that ground strap that I can find. Does make sense to me tho. I’ll look into the owners manual and see if there is anything about it in there. Just found it odd to have a ground strap that wasn’t attached to anything and even odder to me is that this is the first I’ve seen it.

The trailer wire is very short, it'll only reach about as far as where it needs to attach to the fuse box post. Red ~14AWG, black heatshrink at the crimp. Single skinny wire with no split loom or anything. If it's not in use there's a little tab clip it slots into on the side of the split loom retainer for the battery cable bundle.

Again...referencing your pic. check the wire inside the loom...If it is a braided, unsheathed cable it IS a ground strap. See my pic.

I’m pretty sure your correct on that. If you zoom in on the op picture he put up, you can see the ground missing right next to the hood hinge bolts.

Thanks for the pic MikeDeez. That’s what it is 100%. The trailer wire is good to know for future reference. I haven’t noticed anything weird but I’ll be sure to get the strap back on the right spot.

That is the ground fir the hood next to the hood light right above the area you found it you should see a bolt hole with a slit for the tab to fit in.
Hope that help you out. Not sure exactly what it grounds my guess is the light but without opening up the cover and following it back i would assume thats why its there.
