is it very difficult to wire a new amp in where the old one was? I am not sure where it is on this car
Yes, I am also wondering the same thing. How difficult is it to wire a new amp for all the aftermarket door speakers I would buy?

For those of you that are using the subs in the doors. Are you using these instead of kicks or are you using kicks as well? I've thought about going with kicks, but if its not really necessary, I will not.

Both. Doors are ok by themselves but for real bass...sub is needed.

are you referring to location, or in place of? if you're referring to location you would need a rather small amp to take it's place, it's a rather small amplifier. It's in the rear behind the trim piece, passenger side.

well, you have to make a new baffle for it but that's recommended any time you put a new speaker in, whether it be a 5 1/4" or a 10" (I know a close friend that has 10's in his doors, in a trailblazer SS). The new baffle helps reduce vibration, and gives the speaker a much better resting place than the junky plastic piece. It would take a novice about half an hour to figure out how to make a new piece fit in there, and mount an 8" midbass driver. I know, because I was a novice:coolthumb:

Now, an 8 inch subwoofer, not going to fit most likely, but a midbass driver, without a doubt!

I am using these ones, my close friend is using these ones.

All behind the factory door panel with a new baffle. The tens play so low, when I first heard his truck, I thought the subwoofer was playing... It wasnt.:burp:

well yes, I was referring to something more designed for bass response, no way you're going to fit one of these puppies up there:

that's the type of subwoofer I was referring to.

Do you have any pics of how the 10's fit? I think I am going to try a set of 10's I have laying around, just wanted to know any gotchya's before I start making rings.

I searched through his photobucket, but with no luck. He doesn't usually take pictures of his build ups, only his customers! lol

It is just as I did mine in my post I made. Just cut some new baffles, and call it a day.

Im thinking about putting my stuff up for sale if anybody wants to try some top of the line 8's ;)

Thanks for the info. I was more worried about door panel obstructions for the diameter than for mounting depth.

I think I need more midbass from the doors in order to blend with the rest of the front drivers. My plan is to try my old Kicker C10's in the doors since the magnet structure is not as deep as the 8's I have in it right now. My 8's are subs drivers with a 1.5" xmax made specifically for low bass. Although they are less massive than the one sub you pictured, they are still sub only, not low/mid woofers like the ones you have, so it should work out.
