How do you remove the top, back bolt from the ac compressor?

I’ve exhausted attempts with all my wrenches. The crowfoot has it almost out, but now I don’t have clearance for the ratchet. The bolt is very loose, but it seems to need a few more turns before the compressor will come out.

Yes, I’ve already removed the fan, belts, hoses, etc.

Thanks for your help.

IIRC, the TSB called for lifting the passenger side of the engine by pulling the mount bolt and jacking it up.

I don't fully remember how i did mine but i don't think i did that. I had to change the plate behind the compressor and the compressor with all 6 bolts. Take your time. It was a PITA.

During my build I had to install and remove the compressor 3 times. I never had to lift the motor out but I also didn’t have the headers on the motor. I loosened the bolts all the way then pulled it forward. As I pulled it forward I went out towards the passenger fender, got the two bolts around the mount then pulled it across the front of the motor. The thing came right out every time.

I did finally get the compressor out after removing the belt tensioner and rocking it back & forth.

Now I have to find the motivation to put it back together again.

Remove two bolts under the motor mount and jack engine up an inch. Also Remove ac belt tensioner. Plug the holes or compressor oil goes on floor. Undo electrical connection. I used a crows foot, you might need a rag underneath the bolt. If you drop your tool it goes into the abyss.

I am in the process of replacing my AC compressor. The AC pulley seems easy enough to remove, but I want to avoid removing the engine mount if possible. I think it would be easier to remove the bracket bolts above the compressor and remove the bracket with the compressor attached. It also looks like removing the water pump would allow plenty of room for the compressor to come out the front. I have electric fans to I don't have to F' with mechanical fan. The few videos I see say to remove the heater hoses anyway.

Anyone try removing the bracket and the compressor together? Any need to remove the water pump?

Thanks, Shimaze

Lift engine up an inch. No need to remove mount. Unbolt passenger side mount from below and jack up from pan. It’s easy. Just 2 15mm nuts. You can get to it with a claw foot. I just did mine without touching the water pump. That would be a hassle with gaskets!
