402 stroker build checklist

I truely think an ERL is not overkill but waay overkill. Look around on other forums, corvette, GTO, LS1tech, etc. The fastest SS on here is running an iron block 403 at over 1xxxHP. JPracing is going with an iron block I believe as well. Joe (Leftcoast 32) was running an LS2 with WCCH L92 heads (w/ jackshaft 2300) for the longest time at some serious HP levels. I wouldn't be afraid of running an LS2 at 800-900whp with a forged bottom end, even with a stroker kit. You're picking the top of the line components for the bottom end that's for sure, but I think you should really talk with some engine builders about your block choice and see what they suggest I know HKE builds some pretty serious 402 & 408's. Would also give LEP a call, maybe AES. :2cents:

All you guys talking about suspension and transmissions need to remember martin cox went 10.21 on stock suspension and a rpm lvl 6. If he builds a erl 402, wcch l92 heads, PCMforLess custom cam, 42 lb injectors, stand alone, stock L92 intake, with supporting mods and a 200 shot he will run 10s.
^^^ Bingo! But Martin didn't use an ERL or LSX block. Which was my point with the examples I gave, although I will say my bad as you did have a very impressive setup and #'s on an LS2 based short block.

BUT if budget isn't a concern and he feels like spending the $$$$ on an aftermarket prepped block get one by all means. Just think it's truely not needed in a mostly N/A application DD.

Bio, I know Mightymouse is using an ERL in his mid-8sec T/A and actually drives it, he's on here and LS1tech so maybe you could pick his brain for some advice.
