if I take the steering wheel out of a 3ss and put it in my 1ss will it work as long as I switch the clock spring?

No. You need to run four wires to the cluster, a wire to IP lighting positive, a ground, and either 1 or 2 wires back to the underseat fuse box/bcm. Then, for it to control the radio, you will need to program the bcm with a compatible configuration file. THEN it will work
