We have planned a second annual “Drive to Survive” fund raiser, to help Dorian’s family manage the many expenses that still exist even after his passing. As his friends and colleagues, we believe raising money to help pay for some of these expenses is the least we can do.

This year’s Drive to Survive Event will be a traveling Poker Run across greater Kansas City. Poker “players” will meet at House of Boost in Lenexa for a morning Car Show and Dyno Day, where players will pick up the details of the Poker Run route and the stops they need to make.

Coffee and light breakfast snacks will be served in the morning, and grilled hamburgers and water will be served in the afternoon as players make it back for the last stop. House of Boost will be accepting donations for single-run dyno pulls all day (2WD cars and trucks only). An open car show will also be held at House of Boost during the day for those that would like to donate and not participate in the poker run.

For $25 a hand, players will be dealt a Poker card at each of the 7 designated stops, along with a score card which will be filled in as they progress along the route.

The dealt card will be recorded on each player’s score card at each stop by one of the organizers, and the winner of the event is the player that makes the best five (5) card Poker hand at the end of the event (determined by standard Poker hand rankings). If a duplicate card is drawn at one of the stops, a different card will have to be drawn.

At the last stop (back to House of Boost), as long as you have completed at least 5 of the 7 stops, you will be allowed to draw up to two (2) more cards in order to create a better 5-card Poker hand. Extra cards will cost $20 each.
The Poker Run winner will get to take home the $500 pot! If there is a tie for the best hand, players will draw another card and the highest card will win.

Keep in mind, that although this is a “run,” this is not a race and there are no prizes for speed–it doesn’t matter who is first to complete all the stops. Our goal is to have fun, connect with the automotive community, raise much-needed funds for Dorian’s family, and of course, to play some Poker!

House of Boost and the Poker Run organizers will not be held responsible for any participants’ damage to property or vehicles, personal injury, or traffic violations.
