cleaned the throttle body yesterday now I have a high revving idle. Is this common after you clean a throttle body? 2007 tbss

Its gonna take a while to relearn the airflow. I cleaned mine 3 weeks ago and I'm still having issues at idle. Wish I would've just left it alone. I might just have to buy a new TB though because when I cleaned mine I held the blade fully open to clean the crud out good and from my research they say to touch the blade as little as possible becaue of the servo motor inside. Whoops.
Im interested in hearing the answer for this because as a Nissan tech we always clean electronic throttle bodies and same thing happens, idle is now higher or erratic obviously due to no IAC valve anymore and the PCM uses the blade opening angle to control idle speed airflow.
Anyway for Nissan every time we clean the throttleblade, we then hook up our scan tool and perform whats called Idle Air Volume Learn and it reset the idle back. Does GM have a similar procedure?

GM does have a idle relearn procedure but it has mixed results on actually fixing the idle. For most people it doesnt actually do anything. From my research it looks like the idle relearn isnt supposed to actually fix the ghigh idel, it just resets the learned idle airflow to speed up the new learning process.
And I tried disconnecting the battery as well and that did not change anything. I even disconnected the battery before I pulled the TB and cleaned it. But it had never been touched in 88,000 miles so it was pretty gunked up. I'm wondering if that is why it is taking so long to relearn. Or I just messed up the servo motor from holding the blade wide open?:doh:

I cleaned mine the other day and it has already relearned the proper blade position. It sucks to drive while its relearning but it did help my gas mileage.
I have a spare. If u want ill ship it to u and if it helps pay me $50 if not send it back. I would give it to u but I payed $75 for it. It's clean with about 33k miles
I had planned to clean mine tomorrow.. Should I just take it completely off and and scrub it but not touch the blade?
I've even reflash my PC with my HP Tuners and still nothing but right now as it sits running it idles perfect until I actually rev it a little.
I took my TB off 2x to clean and after reinstalling it and it started up and idled like normal. :dunno:
Its runnIng perfect today. I installed a new throttle body and reflashed the pcm yesterday and had no luck. After the cool of from yesterday its back to normal. Gm said my tps was bad and that they can go bad from a gunked up throttle body. They said just clean it once a year by spraying throttle body cleaner on a shop rag and wipe it clean with it still attached and be gentle on the blade.
Mine was gunked up pretty bad, drove around for the day dealing with the high idle and it seemed to get better and better, then unplugged battery for a bit and it's 100% back to normal now
