Default Stability track

Hello does anyone know why this is not a recall when most of are trucks has this problem. Especially when making a left turn at a intersection on dry pavement and the traction control slows the engine down. This can cause a fatal accident. I have read some post on the forum and its a incorrect steering wheel position sensor installed by GM. Does anyone know who we can send a complaint to about this issue. I myself will gladly write a letter or call.
Thanks
Greg

Mine did that under light acceleration from a stop but it was just the hub needed to be replaced

Did you take it back to dealer to have it fixed. If so how much did it cost you. I am not having any noise with my truck

Nah I replaced it myself. Don't think it was a manufacturers problem just the part went bad

Just ran into the same problem on my 2006 TBSS here in Switzerland. Since a few months I have intermittent Stabilitrack problems when accelerating from a stop or a traffic light. I went to a Chevrolet dealer which replaced the following parts until today NOT solving the problem. Steering wheel sensor, Yaw sensor, right front hub. After replacing all these parts stabilitrack does not slow down the vehicle anymore when accelerating, but even worse, throws a new message on the DIC stating "Stabilitrack not ready" which is completely new to me. I've never seen that message before. Does anybody else ran into that problem after replacing all the sensors involved in stabilitrack ?

I had a stabillitrack problem that was driving me crazy. it would come and go on its own.
finally tracked it down to the left front area. and it was corrosion on the connector. but the corrosion was not within the connector but where the wire goes into the connector. I cleaned it up and it was fine for a year but came back, so I hacked off the connector and replaced it.

Hi guys, I had the same problem with the stabilitrack after each stop. After some search we changed both front wheel hubs including the sensors and it is perfect now. Thanks for many good posts here...

My tire rubbed a spot into the right front wheel speed sensor wire. So "SERVICE STABILITRAK" message came on... WTF. So I'll be replacing it in the morning....

I have a Timken wheel bearing where the wire for the sensor was also worn through by the tire. Does a Timken wheel bearing require a Timken sensor or will a generic from Advanced Auto work?

The Timken bearing uses the OE WSS (which is Siemans?).

You may be able to find the OE part. I would suggest an OE here. All these topics on failures should make it very clear that properly working sensors are required. There is no defect or recall, rather the SWPS and Front WSS do fail over time just like they do in every vehicle ever...

So I replaced my wheel speed sensor. The dash lights went away. Now it just grabs the brakes every time I go to accelerate. URG!!! Anyone have any ideas?

I replaced my steering wheel sensor, the stabillitrak would still activate even at a stop light going straight. Safety issue and annoying turning it off every time I drove it. I finally replaced both hubs. The driver connector was difficult to get in but finally got it in. The truck runs with absolutely no stabillitrak issues

Dropped it off at the Stealership. Read a code for SWPS. So fingers crossed this works...and there goes all my Xmas/Bonus money. Well hopefully not. Maybe just $400-$500.

I had the service stabilitrack this morning. I will see if its on when I go to lunch. I was looking online for a tech 2 since thats the only scanner that can do it all on the GM vehicles. I refuse to go to the stealership for a diagnostic. So I came across a clone Tech 2. I have so far looked at 3 reviews and all of them said it does everything the real Tech 2 does. One guy even had a real one next to a clone and he even said its hard to tell. Anyways I have seen them for around $260-280. I might to pick one of these up just to have around, shit the dealer charges $100 just to hook it up and tell up whats wrong and then its not even a correct diagnostic.

Copying this over to a more lively thread and following...

Has anyone ever solved the Service Stabilitrak problem(s)? I absolutely will not bring it to the dealer and just let them throw parts at it on my dime... I did a few 'fixes' that others tried, but with no success.

I had the BCM reflashed.
The steering was re-zeroed.
The steering wheel position sensor was replaced (aftermarket non-GM).

The error comes up faster than you can disable the TCS.

When using a SnapOn Solus, the single code still blames the Steering Wheel Position Sensor, which was replaced.

As mentioned by others, it likes to fire off right after I start driving into an intersection.

I'm currently at the temporary fix of pulling the #61 VSES fuse, at the expense of my ABS..

I just emailed PCM to ask if they could edit my tune to delete the TCS, so I can get back my ABS, but I'm still not sure that's the answer or not (AWD).

I understand that everyone's issues are different, and some don't even have this issue, but what a pain in the dick that'll be when I eventually try to sell my TBSS and have to convince someone 'not to worry about all the dash light errors".....and no I'm not pulling out the bulbs :-)

If it's acting up there is a fault in the system. Simple as that. This is a safety feature so I would advise against disabling it in any capacity.

There aren't that many parts to the system and diagnosis ain't bad either but it takes more than an OBD code reader.

I have a Mongoose Pro GM2 if anyone wants to rent it. Tech II will show wheel speed and steering wheel position and make diagnosis a breeze. If you replaced the SWPS and it's still reporting it as the issue the part may be the wrong part or defective or the there could be a wiring fault.

My service stabilitrak light comes on every time I get in it. Recently the stabilitrak not ready light is flashing and then it turns traction control off by itself. When I turn the traction control off manually it still gives me the stabilitrak not ready light. No problems with lack of acceleration from a stop. Just very annoying.
