Default Stabilitrak Question

I hopped in the SS this morning after getting a drink for work. Pulling out on the street I noticed the "Service Stabilitrak" on the DIC, of course I had the OH $hit look on my face when I saw it, I just pulled over, Shut the SS down waited for a sec then started it back up to no message.

So here is my question. What is the usual cause for the "service stbilitrak" message to come up?

#PIT4576F: Service Stabilitrak Indicator Illuminated DTC C0131 - keywords booster brake drag lamp light pedal shake stability vib vibration VSES wear - (Jul 17, 2009)

Subject: Service Stabilitrak Indicator Illuminated DTC C0131

Models: 2007 Buick Rainier

2007-2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer models

2007-2008 GMC Envoy models

2007-2008 Saab 97x

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This PI was superseded to include additional TAC Admin Details. Please discard PIT4576E.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
A customer complaint of a Service Stability Indicator illuminated at times and the EBCM DTC C0131 stored. The DTC may set a plausibility correlation fault if the Master Cylinder Pressure sensor senses hydraulic brake pressure with no brake switch input to the EBCM. The driving conditions to induce this DTC are "Parade" type driving or as if the customer is at a "Drive Thru" window. These are typically light brake applications with slow vehicle movements.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Using the Tech II, navigate to the EBCM's Data Display. Identify the parameter that displays Master Cylinder Pressure readings in Voltage and PSI. Does the Master Cylinder Pressure reading dynamically change output based on applying and releasing the brake pedal? If yes, proceed to step 2 for vehicles equipped with Electric Adjustable Pedals - RP0 JF4 or Step 3 for vehicles not equipped with this feature. Otherwise, replace BPMV.
Physically inspect for any slack/free-play movement on the mounting of pedal adjusting motor assembly to the brake pedal arm hardware. There are two staked pins for mounting and securing the gear box of motor, if one or both pin(s) have not adequately staked, it will cause the slack/free-play, thus causes inadvertent switch interruption (circuit may close even with foot is still on the brake pedal). If there is a slack/free-play exist, replace brake pedal assembly and retest it with drive the vehicle on a few parade laps (with light brake apply) around the dealership lot verifying DTC C0131 does not return. If no slack/free-play, proceed to step 3.
Replace the brake booster with current SPO parts. After booster installation is complete, drive the vehicle on a few parade laps (with light brake apply) around the dealership lot verifying DTC C0131 does not return.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Condition #2
Some customers may comment on a blinking StabiliTrak® indicator light along with a StabiliTrak Active message displayed in the DIC during normal driving conditions. No DTCs will be found with this concern.

Correction
Do This
Don't Do This

Reprogram the EBCM.
Do not replace the yaw sensor or EBCM for this condition.

Important: From the controller list, select "VSES Vehicle Stability Enhancement System Control Module."

#PIT4688: Service Stability And Red Brake Light Warning Indicators On With No DTCs - keywords brake cluster code codes display fluid indicator IPC lamp level light low no none panel red service stability - (Aug 1, 2008)

Subject: Service Stability and Red Brake Light Warning Indicators on with No DTC's

Models: 2006-2007 Buick Rainier

2006-2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer models

2006-2009 GMC Envoy models

2006-2009 Saab 97x

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that the Service Stability and Red Brake warning lamps are illuminated. A Technician may scan the EBCM for DTC's and find none stored. These indicators with no DTC's stored, may be the result of low fluid in the brake master cylinder reservoir.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Using the Tech 2, build as... Chassis > EBCM > Data Display > VSES. The tech 2 will display OK or Low for this parameter. Monitor the Diff.Pressure/Fluid Level parameter. If the value is low, follow SI Document ID 1923428.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
