Default Faint Battery Light/Intermittent Dead battery '03 Silverado

My grandfather owns a 2003 2500 silverado HD 6.0L truck...19k miles. The truck is a low option truck without power windows/locks.

The issue is his battery light stays partially illuminated((meaning it's not as bright as when you initially key the ignition on))and stays illuminated while driving and while it's parked. We replaced the battery and alternator and the light went out for about 150miles and then came back on and a week later the battery was dead.

It takes very little charging for the battery to come up & once recharged it will last another 4-5days before going dead again.

The new alternator and battery test out fine. Take the car to the dealership and my grandfather is told by the Tech that the light being dim was "ok"??

Could there be an issue with the gauge cluster?

Any thoughts?

Since I'm not a member on a Silverado forum I thought this would be the next best place to start thanks!

hmm first of who tested the alt.? your or the dealership because any 'dummy light' on the dash is not ok and that tech needs to check his books.
over here in iraq our fleet of PAH (personal a$$ hauler) vehicles is mostly chevy/dodges
when this light comes on its only a matter of time before you need to be jumped over and over.
then we change out the alt, and depending on how long they have been running with the light on the battery too.
i believe autozone has a bench tester if you take it off and bring it to them they could test it
but then your faith is in someone who might not know whats up any local alt/start rebuild shop whould prolly test it for free.
cant watch youtube vids here so if it was already answered im sorry.
