Default paint chip?

Hey I have an 06 ss and my rock chips are pretty bad but not major. The truck has around 21000 on it and I am not the original owner. I have yet to present my dealership with the tsb, (did not buy the truck from this dealer) what is the best way to approach them to get the truck repainted or atleast 3m tape? Also if they do give me crap due to the fact that i am not the original owner, how much would this repair cost me roughly? I love the truck but the chips on top of having black paint is becoming a 2nd job haha. Thanks

Do you have any of your 3 year warranty left?

Cant be much. Better be checking. I bought my 06 when the 07s where out. I am out of warranty at 31,000.

And you would not want film over chips. Needs painted first.

It shouldn't be too much of a problem. Mines in the body shop now for this. I work at a gm dealer and my service manager hates warrantying any workers car except his own. Plus I bought mine used from a different dealer.

I just got denied by the GM Rep that had to see it when it went in for this same issue, She said (The rock chips arent bad enough to have it warrantied, and it isn't a manufacturer's defect)

So how bad do the rock chips have to be before they will fix them? I have about 30 small ones on both front doors and in front of rear tires. I have to take it back in for the drivers window again and was wondering before I said anything to them abaout the chips.

Yeah, I have less than a 1,000 miles left on my warranty and would like to get this done before it runs out.... Looks even worse on a Black SS.

find a good dealer that is willing to work with you.

go in and PLAY STUPID... DO NOT hand them the tsb and say you want that done...

just say you have noticed a bunch of rock chips, and have heard there was a tsb on the issue... is there a way you can look at it and see if it is covered.

even if they deny the claim, you can go to another dealer and get it taken care of, my dealer knew about the tsb, and i had my rear doors, and rockers painted, and 3m'd.....

your BEST BET is to post something in the texas section, see if someone works at a dealer, or has a friend who does and can get you fast tracked through the hoops and get it taken care of for you....

Default Rock Chips

I just had the rock chips on my 2008 repaired about a month ago.
The dealer was "unaware" of the tsb when I asked about having them fixed. They were very receptive to the repair once I gave them the tsb number. To get it approved by the district manager all that was required were photos. I gave them one photo of the rock chips, one of the current mileage and one of the vin #. The rock chips were very hard to see on the silver paint in photos and they still approved the re-painting and installing 3m.
I would encourage you to try another dealer. Good luck.

Is this what you are referring to?

If so what is the TSB# for it? I have this on both rear doors. I ask because I recieved some card in the mail about the original warranty ending at 3/8/10. However I just bought my SS and was given a Original warranty or a 12/12 warranty(or the one that is the longest) and the remaining drivetrain warranty.
Guess i should just call a dealership.

I cant see the pic! can anyone else?

Ok I dropped it off this morning. I showed him the chips and was told that it was from the tires and they could not fix it under warranty. I then told him there was a service bulletin about it and showed it to him. He is going to talk to his boss and let me know.
