Default Another new TBSS owner

Hey guys I'm Joe. Just picked up this beauty on Friday. She's a white '06 AWD SS with 110k. Picked her up for $9k. I'm coming from an Ls1 powered Silverado to this LS2 powered beast. I've been lurking the forum for the past 2 weeks. Unfortunately mine has a few leaks that are a bit on the pricey side.

1. Rear pinion shaft seal

2. Intermediate shaft seal

3. Output axle shaft seal

As I'm sure you all know it's about 15 hrs worth of labor. I'm hoping it's not as bad as it looks and as bad as shopkey makes it sound.

Another Washington TBSS

I got mine last Saturday from a dealer in Enumclaw.

I was looking pretty hard on Craigslist and didn't see yours listed. Saw a lot of black ones, but they were all beat.

I got this one in Bremerton from Haselwood Chevrolet. I've wanted one since my brother graduated in '06. And was finally in a place where one was for sale for a decent price. And not some '08 with 180k on the clock for $17.5k that dealer in puyallup wasn't budging on that price. It was black. Not as nice of an interior as this one either.

I got my in Enumclaw from Gamblin Chevy.

It was originally listed at $17.5k . I planned on going up on Saturday and the night before I found another one for $15k. It was black and looked pretty nice with 120k on the clock. So I called Gamblin and said I wanted to go look at the black one first since it was less.

The sales guy said he also saw that one and just come in and we will deal.
Ended up at $15k with gap insurance and a 3 year powertrain warranty at 6.85%.
I actually liked the red better than the black, but I didn't tell the salesman that.
This one has 104k on it and in amazing condition. I can't find a door ding anywhere. Whoever had it took really good care of it. I plan on doing the same.

I'm going to put a trans cooler on it and a tune from PCM of NC. I already have my touch screen in. Later I may go with E-fans.

I want to do the trans cooler, tune and e fans as well. Idk if I want a new Apple play nav DVD screen or remote start.

Its a great resource. I knew exactly what to look for and what the strengths and weaknesses were.

I have an Autopage remote start alarm on mine it sucks. I have to push the button multiple times to unlock the door, and it will not unlock all the doors. I have to push the unlock on the arm rest for that. I'm trying to find a way to remove it.
.
I did get my Kenwood touch screen in and the steering wheel controls working. I have a trans cooler on the way along with the special fitting.

I think my hard start problem is cured so I'm going to order the tune tonight. I checked with local tuners and they are $500 plus and none of them has done a TBSS before. The PCM of NC its going to be $275 with the rental of the Diablo for the case relearn.

Bummer on the remote start. Idk if I want compustar or viper. And $275 for a tune is awesome! I'll have to check into it more.

I've been talking with Kelly about the tune. Very helpful and answered all my questions.

I found out since I have an 08 they can install the E-fan patch for later use.

I'm not sure if that means only 08's or newer or not.

Thats a good question, I was telling another member that wondered the same thing that i tried to get mine like that so i wouldn't have to go back to nelsons performance when im ready to install my efan setup (3weeks) and my fan clutch would stay engaged so i took it right back and put that part of the tune back to stock until i got the rest of my parts in. I'm a 2007 though so I wonder...helpful info though for others in your situation.

The guy i purchased the truck from said the engine was rebuilt (not sure on what internals but i know he was spraying nitrous) i also question if he did anything in the rear end because it seems really torqy but this is my first tbss (used to have an 07 malibu ss lol) but as far as what i did was had a friend that owns a tranny shop build my trans with a shift kit, trans cooler, of course did the k&n to the stock air box, catless y, borla catback, nelson's perfomance tune with a custom harness and ls1 efans. Honestly i think thats really it, i'm also rwd and only use premium and probably get 10mpg lmao

Lmao my buddy has one and said the same thing but I've never raced his. I've ran two different ones from a stop and a different 3rd on the highway from a 60 roll but it wasnt for a long distance because of traffic.

Excuse my ignorance. But what is the "k&n to the stock air box"? Obviously it's a k&n air filter. Did you do a whole k&n cold air kit or is there something specific about what you did because the design of the stock air box is so awesome? At least from what I've read. The air boxes design gives these trucks a lot of their power.
