I used to be heavy into car audio 10 years or so ago and got out of it after I started working more and other priorities took over. I'm just now getting back into it and loving it.

I had a cheap system in my TBSS for a while that I transferred over from my Suburban. It was fine for a while and finally killed the amp and one of the subs last year.

Earlier this week, I scored a good deal on a JL 500/1, 300/2, and 2 10" L7s. I installed the 500/1 and hooked it up to an older 12" Pioneer P1 I had laying around because I don't have a box for the L7s yet.

Everything was working okay while I was playing in my garage a couple nights ago. I drive to work yesterday morning and the amp/sub shut off. I immediately turned the remote off on my head unit in case there was a serious problem. I got home last night and started messing around with it. I checked for voltage at the amp and was getting nothing. I figured I blew the fuse, so I checked it. Fuse was good, but I had some corrosion on the fuse block. I cleaned that up and was getting good voltage at the amp.

Turn everything on, sounds great. I played it in my garage for about 30 minutes testing everything out. I did this with it running and with the ignition off as well. Fast forward to this morning, I turn my usb on for my Ipod, turn it up about 2/3 the way and the amp starts shutting down and powering back up about every 2 seconds. I turned back to my tuner to listen to some talk show stuff and I can hear the sub the entire drive back into work.

According to JL's manual, the only thing that causes one to completely shut down is a voltage drop below 8 or 9 volts. Of course, I don't have a meter back there to check while I'm driving, but I don't know what would be any different while cruising versus idling in my garage. Is it possible that it's seeing too much voltage? My Escort 8500 has a volt meter on it and it's reading between 14.4-14.6 while driving, but around 14.2-14.3 at idle. I wouldn't think a couple tenths of a volt could do it. My only other thought is the fuse holder is causing a voltage drop again after sitting all night.

Just thought I'd check on here to see if anyone had any idea. I'm going to mess with it again tonight. I haven't spent much time with the amp settings yet and now that I have the manual, I'm going to go over all of that.

Best handheld tuner to save mileage when commuting?

So I finally have my dream truck and was wondering if it really is as easy as buying a handheld tuner to save mileage when I'm not concerned with how fast it goes. I have seen a couple of tuners out there like the superchips and was wondering if they really work that simply. I'm brand new to this whole scene so has anybody bought one of these flashpaq tuners, turned it on economy mode when doing your weekly commute to work, and then turned it to extreme and been able to just beast it? Can you really do that? I'm not particularly concerned with turning the thing into a rocket, but it WOULD be nice to be able to use the chip to save some gas AND be able to easily flip it back to beast mode. I dont really want to take anything out and send it away and I am certainly clueless when it comes to more complicated adjustments. Can anybody who has used one of these handheld tuners give me a testimonial?

PS Someone already said on the thread where I introduced myself, not to ask basic questions because fellow members might jump all over me because they may have already been answered, but we're all friends here right guys? I've never even been on a FORUM before. Just looking for some tips.

I was originally going to go down to the states to buy one, but a lone one popped up on craigslist, in Coquitlam. So I snapped it up right away. I'm only 22 and this is the largest purchase I have ever made so any tips on budget modding or how to save gas would be great.

I looked for months for this car and was lucky to have found it. I recently purchased a Pontiac G8 (#219 of the first 888 made) and am building a 402 stroker for it. I couldn't pass up this deal. My friend owns a hi performance shop and a customer who put a ton of money into the G8 spun a bearing and wiped out the crank so his loss is now my gain and the GTA needs a new home. I only have a ONE car climate controlled Garage lol.

I wasn't going to sell my GTA as i just bought it a few months ago but i am now putting it up.

T-Top '89 5.7 Brilliant red beechwood leather (recovered a month ago) with 68k original miles. i am the third owner. Car is not perfect but extremely clean and well maintained. was repainted in '03 by previous owner.

There is NO RUST/ROT on this car. It has the original hood (vin sticker is there). No accidents of any kind. Has $2000 worth of chrome moly tubular Spohn suspension (control arms, wonderbar, panhard rod, Delrin bushings, etc), new Moog springs, Moog front end, radiator, injectors, fuel lines, water pump, headlight motors, power antenna, window motors, harmonic balancer, welded Spohn subframe connectors, headliner, T-Top inserts, falken tires with 95% tread, polished original wheels, original radio, original overhead console flashlight in working order, spare/jack, T-top bag, cargo cover, original RPO code sticker is in center console where it is supposed to be, ALL EMISSIONS CONTROLS PRESENT AND WORKING, plugs, wires, cap/rotor, fuel filter, air filter, PCV, vacuum lines, build sheet, Pontiac historical services paperwork, ORIGINAL OLD WINDOW STICKER (ugly back then, line printed black and white and is a square as opposed to the rectangle shape of today), battery tender, car cover and a ton of spare parts including 4 fenders, door panel grommets, shifter handles, etc etc. Car is a great driver. solid 8 out of 10 imho.

I will be asking $7200/bo into the car for about $9000 so someone is going to make out like a bandit but i did on my G8 so it'll be a wash . I would've killed for this GTA when i was looking. i couldn't find it.

car gets looks non stop when i'm out and about. compliments, questions, alot of attention. finding them in this condition inside, outside and underneath is rare and cost big $$$. AC blows ice cold, cruise works, car can absolutely be driven form here to florida without an issue. i have taken it on a 90 mile ride and outside of it being an '89 F body (i have all new vehicles so i'm a little spoiled lol), it road and drove terrific. Car has been garage kept since '03 by previous owner and now myself (climate controlled under a cover on a battery tender)

PS, i have the lower black plastic side skirts that conceal the low exhaust pipe just haven't put them back up yet since the suspension work was completed. they're sitting in the shop along with the new backing plates for the rear brakes

Hello everyone I'm debating over what route I will be taking this TBSS. I told my self that I wouldn't overdue it on this one, but I just dislike those SRT8J's too much that I HAVE to modify it.

My engine is basically stock aside from the typical K&N CAI, and SLP CB. I have a set of Kooks 1 7/8 waiting for install, along with LS1 fans, UD, C6 oil pan swap, 3200 stall with 4L80E. Oh yeah I'm going to upgrade the CAI also.

Heres what I wanted to do, either do a set of CNC L92 heads, and cam. Or stock milled L92 heads, and cam. Or just do a complete L92 engine swap with CNC heads, cam.

Now here's where this gets even more complicated. My buddy just spun a rod in his engine. I'm buying from him a set of TFS 215 heads milled to 59cc, 1.7 Yella Terra rockers, Ported Fast 102 from Vengeance, fuel rails, injectors and brand new set of PRC springs all for a Killer price :muahaha:.

What combo should I run and why? I'm not looking to go too big on the cam side. Trying to actually stay under a 224 cam, to pass the sniffer test (stupid california smog laws). That and my camaros already has a pretty radical cam. Thanks for the help and opinions.

Up for sale is my person 2007 AWD 3SS. This is the Huron Speed truck, and has some nice goodies with it!

2007 Trailblazer SS
All-Wheel Drive
3SS with leather/suede seats front and rear, front navigation screen, heated seats, sunroof. Appears to be fully loaded to the best of my knowledge less the rear dvd.
69,xxx miles, driving daily 90 miles.

Mods:
Huron Speed 3600 T1 converter
Vector Motorsports Cold Air Intake
Vector Motorsports 93 octane ECM/TCM tune
Jetttstream 4300k HIDs in Lows, Highs, and Fogs
Jetttstream DRL killer
20% window tint on front windows
Nitrous Express 90mm plate kit
-PCMforLess bottle bracket
-Nitrous Express Bottle Heater
-Nitrous Express electronic TPS WOT switch
-MSD Window Switch
(Nitrous System is installed and wired, however the bottle has never been filled, schrader valve not removed, and the truck NEVER sprayed)

Truck needs nothing. It had a front wheel bearing changed under warranty about 5k miles ago along with an alignment and front ball joint.

It gets 17mpg on the highway at 70mph with the Vector 93 tune.

Truck ran 13.46 @ 99.9 with a 1.89 60' with ONLY the converter. Have not had it back to the track with the CAI and tune.

Cosmetics: Car has 2 door dings on the passenger side which were there when I bought it. I have been meaning to have them pulled with PDR but haven't got around to doing it. One in the passenger front door, other in passenger rear quarter. Has some scrapes and scuffs in rear bumper from use by previous owner and some rock chips up front. Other than those the truck is in great shape and looks awesome! Truck is very well cared for and VERY clean!

Truck is located in Port Huron, Michigan.

$18,200 without any nitrous parts
$18,999 as it is!

Some of you may have seen my build that's in the works. I've yet to make up my mind as to which throttle body to run. I've thought of picking up a ls7 set up, a N.W 102 and so on. I'm on a stock bottom end and at this point in time do not see my self going to a 402 any time soon. The truck is a lsxrt, heads, cam and full bolt ons set up. I know the best bang for the buck is with the ls7 tb, but are the added gains worth the cost of a n.w? I was pretty much heart set on a ls7 but that was till I started reading this http://www.tbssowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72188 then that had me thinking. Wade, Marty and the rest of you fast stock bottom end guy's what are you rockin? :popcorn3:
