Default Fiberglass packing coming out of tailpipe?

Returning from a trip, I found fiberglass packing coming out of the exhaust pipe. All stock, haven't seen any stock mufflers lately that had any packing in them at all. Anyone else have this happen? Kinda wondering if it may be enough to obstruct flow.

Yep, pretty common thing you hear about on this site. My truck was blowing the packing out quite a bit last year. It kind of looks like someone stuffed a silverish colored wig into the exhaust tip..lol...

Scooter K had new exhaust put on his truck and blew all the installation out in a couple weeks. The shop installed a different muffler for him and warrantied it.

Yeah, a silver platinum wig! Got another 15 ft today. Not so worried about it if others have had it and its just from the resonator. Wondered if something came loose inside and let the muffling material out. Didn't want any metal parts floating around inside. Thanks for the replies.

I had the same thing happen to me this morning. I got to work and saw what I thought was hair hanging out of the tailpipe. At first I thought an animal crawled in there to die then I figured out it was the fiberglass packing. Glad to hear it's common and nothing to worry about.

Except your truck will probably keep getting louder and louder.

The best part is looking like a dumbass when its trailing behind you on the freeway and people are laughing at it. Been there!!! It does sound better though.

just remove the resonator and that will probably take 50 lbs off your truck

This is the best answer for this thread. It is your resonator that has a problem so you are seeing some fiber glass coming out of your tail pipe. We also experience that one last month.

If you removed your tail pipe that will be very noisy. Maybe you started your engine without any muffler installed?
