Drove to Texas today for my install of my cam, L92 heads & MGB headers. I hope to drive back home monday if all goes well. Super bowl may cost me a day I'm told. No matter where they are at a hour before game time it won't get touched again till monday. Excited & nervous tearing into to everything. I have to get a bung welded into my Y-Pipe for my wideband Sat. so we can tune to it. Wish me good luck.

Even my "magic" weld isn't gonna fix that disaster...and its not for a lack of trying!

Bung is welded & taken back to the shop for wideband install. Looks like the baby is all torn down & about ready for the new cam/heads this pm. Trouble with Sat. everyone is down there bothering him about some kind of shit. I think it would be going back together if he could keep Sat. traffic out. Oh well! I'm just glad it's finally getting done.
Wish I had took the camera for some shots torn down. Later

Thanks Joe I called them today to see if all was going well & they had to still jack up the motor even with the heads off to get the passinger side headers to go in. They said driver side was easy though. So far all is good don't know when it will be done for sure I hope today PM but was told Super Bowl game came first if it runs late. That would throw it to Monday or if some last minute part is needed. I just let them be the judge on what is done time wise & stay out of their way. I am getting anxious to here it run and see how the new cam works with the L92 heads & headers. Big low & mid torque is what it is suppose to do to get this big pig moving from the dig. I will post after PM update from David Painter.

Glad its finally getting done bro. Cant wait to see it do some new PB's.

Putting on dyno or taking to track anytime soon?

Blindmelon
Feb-03-08, 11:29 AM
Ty will road tune & drive a while to let it relearn. Then put it on a dyno later part of this month. It has not ever seen a dyno since I have owned it only track times. If all is smooth & A/F looks good I will track test this month. Next week-end may be pushing it.
My oldest son is probable tired of me staying here & running me around to do it two weeks in a row. I have to give him a break. LOL

They it will be ready at 3:00 pm. So I am just chilling till then. I will head for home after I do a road tune & let the computer do a relearn. Wed or Thursday finish up the final exhaust stuff. Looks like one of the o2 (rear) with need to be lengthened a little so out comes the solder gun when I get home to extend the wireing. They had to do a slight bend in the oil dip stick tube to clear the headers also wrap my rubber steering boot to keep heat from headers. Wires (plug) seem to be ok using Taylor ThunderVolt 50's. Like I said I am not the only customer so just glad to get it done. Ex-wives calling & on my ass about my youngest son missing school Monday & Tuesday. I knew that was coming. You evencatch shit abouts mods 2 wives back. They hate car mods still & can't get far enough away to keep the shit from flying over my mods/racing. Funny shit for sure women by most part do not understand fixing up you ride for performance??? I will be happy later this week & have pics. I did just have donuts this morning. Thanks guys.

It was ready at 3:00 pm or a little before. Started & idled great on the first try then let it idle to check fluids. All fluids where good & not leaks. Idle has some nice chop but not over-done. Great street manners & lots of low end. Leaves like a 100 shot of nitrous out of the hole. This is with out any tuning & letting the computer relearn everything. A/F even still looks good 12.5 to 12.7 at WOT. (still on old tune) SSTB seems to love this combo for sure feels like 100 hp more by the butt dyno or like I said like 100 shot of nitrous all motor. Not sure it will need much tuning since the computer likes it so well. Think I have a winner here & still has a nice idle that you can tell it has a cam for sure. Drives like it just lost 1000 lbs. Home at last!!!

"Looks like one of the o2 (rear) with need to be lengthened a little so out comes the solder gun when I get home to extend the wireing."

Might want to invest in some stainless steel butt connectors and high temp heat shrink.

o2 sensors wires are stainless, kinda hard to solder!

Can you get a pic of the #1 cylinder with your wires still on to show the clearance? Just curious on how it looks to see if that really is the way to go.

It shifted 1-2 at 6400 & felt good with big mids & killer 1st & second pulling real hard.
Street tires blow away all through 1st. Turn out the o2 sensors all worked out didn't have to lengthen. Thanks for info Andy! The number one plug wire on passenger side was the only close one with the Taylor Thunder Volts 50's it is about 1/8 from headers but not touching. The rest are all ok. Wrapped the steering ribbed rubber with my old Kevlar intake wrap. Headers cleared frame ok & the Y-pipe has lots of room below trans pan so no heat issues there. I will get muffler, flex pipe & 3" cutout installed tomorrow (all stainless) then into a stainless 3" in & two 2-1/2" out MagnaFlow muffler to duals in the back. Runs great butt dyno says 100 hp more over my stock motor.

Rick at Synergy did me well with this new grind on his cam for the L92 heads. So sweet on street manners but still turn heads with a choppy idle even when you let off the gas at 30 to 40 mph with this stall you can hear it camming as you drive by.
Thanks Left Coast

Tuned some today it really screams also got all the exhaust hooked up from Y-pipe back. Hard to test without the MT DR's it burns tires through 1st gear even with a roll of 10 mph all way till it shifts to 2nd & burns some more with a long 2nd gear patch. Next project is get my MT DR's on it. Awesome power low to mids on up to over 6k.

Here is a pic of the Z06 wheels with 10.5"x18" specs with 305-45-18" MT DR's mounted. I need to cut 1/4" of factory studs off for the adapters to fit correct. That is a lot of sawing or using a cutoff wheel to do a total of 12 studs both sides. That is all I like before running my DR's. With the exhaust all hooked up it hids the chop in the idle real well. Uncorked you can hear it real well. Pic's of wheels on & cat back system.

Man...that is so close to being true duals. After all that work, why not go the extra mile and have the Y pipe cut and extended to two real mufflers?

Blindmelon
Feb-09-08, 09:14 PM
Time frame mostly. The MGB does not have a true dual at this time only a catback Y-pipe. I took a true dual set-up off that will go back on when they release the true dual set-up. I don't want to cut up a polished Y-pipe with cats that I may sell. For now this works all most as well & seems to have more low end torque with the overall combo as it is. Sounds good with no drone also. I got the group buy on polished headers & y-pipe for $725 & the cat'ed y-pipe is worth $350 alone. I have no complaints on how it runs power wise just putting down so much torque street tires won't even begin to hold. Even down shifting blows the tires away all motor think what 2 stage nitrous hit will do? I got the sweet spot with this combo for sure.
