View Full Version : How to paint Engine Cover?

Well The silver stripes on my engine cover got scratched real bad this week, I took it off and well, it got scratched lol. What kind of paint do I need for both the stripes? and for the rest of it?

ya somebody post up on how to paint these covers. what to do ( step by step ).

.1) take off ss logo and performance logo.

.2) use red scotch brite and scuff up slightly.

.3) blow off and use a 3m wax/grease remover or rubbing alcohol to rub down/clean

.4) spray on bulldog or other adhesive promotor and let dry

.5) mask off with tape if you are doing multiple colors.

.6) paint accordingly with car paint or krylon

7.) take off tape after dry.


or just pay a body shop about $100 to paint it.

oh yeah, reinstall ss and perf logos with new 2 sided tape and reinstall on motor.

going to have to try. if it does not come out right i guess i will go with option 2.

Adhesion promoter (Ad-pro) is a must, and I'd also suggest a flex-agent added to the chosen color's paint-mix.
