I was thinking a little today about the performance of the TBSS and related rides JGC, Cayene (sp) etc and others that you might encounter on the roads...so you mod to a low 13, so that's not bad you'll out run most stock vehicles out there, maybe a stock JGC...a mid 12's SS, now you'll run with mildly modded fbodies, mildly modded JGC's, modded lightenings etc. But to really be in decently fast company you really need to be looking at high 11's-low 12's...so CAN this be done N/A with stock cubes? How much power is it gonna take? I know some cam only SS's have done decent, but I think tuning/cam selection has been somewhat of an issue. Can you do a H/C set up that would achieve this without totally killing drivability?

Any thoughts?

I think low 12's is possible. Once it cools down fremaSSon will be right there if not already but he is 2wd. Seems like a lot of others in the mid 12's as well. Right now you and I have similar mods and are heading in the same direction so I'd like to hear some answers too. I'm shooting for heads & cam in spring just waiting to see more of what works with these pigs!

Hey JCattSS, you know somebody local that does H/C work for these trucks? I don't want to take it to just any mechanic, and don't know how to do that type of mod myself. I live about an hour from IN/OH line and maybe when you are ready to do your H/C combo, we can set up a group buy or something to get decent prices. Like I said though, if you know somebody locally in your area, drop me a name. Thanks

Yeah, I might be in for that too. I am not too far from you guys, and I def don't trust anyone around here, no one has experience with this type of motor, just older stuff.

Well there is http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com/ (EPP), or $Lingenenfelter$ both are right here. EPP did some work on my Mach 1 I know the guys they are cool and priced pretty fair. Their top mechanic worked at Lingenfelter and they are pretty good with LSX motors. The problem I see with either one is no AWD dyno or experience tuning a TBSS as far as I know. I spoke with Chris from Vector he said they had access to an AWD dyno. They are somehow connected to Katech as they are in the same location. Katech has a H/C deal about $5k installed & tuned Just an example For Katech (http://www.katechengines.com/street_performance/engine_parts_detail.php?id=36). Lingy is something like $7k http://www.lingenfelter.com/SSR366ls2.htm and EPP is $4k. These are just the prices listed on the web haven't spoke in any detail with these guys about prices or what they think will work. I like the idea of having it built/tuned by somebody with TBSS experience, but at the same time would like to use somebody more local if there any issues down the road. Hopefully by spring this will happen, we have kid #4 due in May. My wife says get this done so I can enjoy it during my 12 week FMLA!

i had the intake all jacked up building a custom through the fender setup and i made a trip to the track in 2200+ DA but the filter was open to the engine compartment in the middle of my build and for almost all the way through 1st i had iat's that started about 140+ and finally dropped to about 115+ at the end of first gear.....

with all this said i put down a 7.97 at 87.41 which depending on the 1/8th - 1/4tr conversion you use it shows 12.50 or sub 12.50....like 12.50 exactly is my guess in 2200+ DA.....

the issue with how fast can a NA truck with a H/C setup on the stock bottom go boils down to your air.....i'll give you your answer for your air with my setup if you post your best winter air DA......i can give you a time for my exact setup sold through admperformance....it has his stage III heads and a moderate cam with all the standard bolt ons....with lth's, high flow cated y-pipe with the stock catback it made 433/413.......i have dropped the cats used a magnaflow dual 3" in to a 3.5" out true-xed muffler to 3.5" over the axle to a 3.5" race muffler (resonator) also completeing a filter/maf relocation to ELIMINATE heat soak......these will be good to move my current setup to about 450/440 is my guestimate......

if i can get my setup to 0 DA it will go 11's the way it sits.....with the tune and tire sellection perfect.....it may only be a 11.9X's but this exact setup is good for 11's in 0 DA.....PERIOD.....i also have geared it to 4.56 so keep this in mind during your quest.......

LS motors love spray

You get the daily driveabaility and mild street manners everyone wants, and a scalded bitch dog when you come up against that cam + bolt-ons f-body. If you tune it and monitor it, its not harder on your car than anything else

After that, you need to make sure everything is designed to work properly. 1000hp won't do you any good if you can only put 300 to the ground or don't have the gearing to keep you in the power

Who is the who's who of LSX headwork? I have an LT1 and I know the top 3 national LT1 head porters. Is the LSX too new, or have there emerged certain porters that are achieving better numbers with their heads? What cam specs are being looked at? Your gonna have to have a torque monster, to get the pig off the line, but it can't "just" be a torquer because these heads flow so well in the upper rpms. What are you guys doing/planning?

It can be done. All it takes is porting, cam, headers, stall and a good tune. And maybe bigger injectors.

The problem is finding the right combo, it's a heavy truck.
