A guy i work with just bought an 07 monte ss. He is tellin me he will walk me and there is no way i could beat him in an suv. i know nothing about the monte ss other than it has a 5.3L could someone let me know if he is full of shit or is the monte a mean car.I would like to know specs and tiem also.

I think it would be a good race. I had an 06 Impala SS with a tune and catless down pipe and smoked a freinds stock awd TBSS. He went and got it tuned then he could beat me, said it was running 13.6's. Thats a good part of the reason I now have a TBSS.

Not sure if you are all stock that he won't beat you. Some of these stock AWD are 14.10 to 14.50 & the SS can run 13.7 to 13.90 My ex-wife had a SS Impala (heavier) it it was a high 13's stock. LOL

I have the GP GXP (pretty much same car) and it is quick, but not quick enough for the TBSS I don't think. Obviously if he just picked it up he is probably all stock. Do you have anything done? If you are tuned, I'd take all the money he wants to race for. Even if you are stock, I think you could probably still take him.

Any way you can get the TBSS tuned before you run him? That way you'll seal the victory for sure.:D

whatever happened? just my $.02 but.. the Monte SS would beat you if the launch was clean (which it won't be, so you'll win by default)

I also had a GP GXP with the LS4 in it and got it down to 13.6 @102+ with a shitty 2.0x 60' bone stock down to the filter..
I think from a roll he would take you.. AWD SS v monte SS = Monte (with traction) IMO

from a dig you'd get him by a car maybe, from a rol he'd have you by a car..

anything yet? i am curious as i have been keeping track of the LS4 FWD's vs our trucks so far it's (Stock v Stock) been TBSS AWD from a stop and LS4 FWD from a roll... haven't seen a 2WD stock race one yet. i guess my only comaprison is my own whcih ran 13.5's, so that would make the TBSS 2WD .1 quicker since i drove them both at the same track in similar DA?

At Nat's Chris (IEATSRT8) drove a rental Impy SS. He took out the light, retuned it, shed some weight and STILL got a best of 14.4/14.5 when stock TBSS like stillrollin' were doing low 14's (if I recall correctly).

100% believable.. I ran numerous 13.6-13-8's IN MY gp gxp on a couple occasions at atco in good DA and another guy ran 13.7's at E-town, both of us were bone stock down to the filter.. our mph were 102+ on most runs, like I said in the street the FWD doesn't hook for shit. But if he got a god launch it would be the monte more than likely by a car or so on an AWD N a 2WD probably a toss up? although the GXP has a different final drive, maybe it helps? I don't know, but I remember holding 2nd till redline (102) through the traps.. if left in drive the GXP ran a 14.2 @99 because the gay ass trans shifts into third at like 5500? GM and their "electro"nannies..

The red Impala SS from the 08 Nats was rented by Chris and I. It would beat a stock awd ss from a roll. I know cause we raced one. Those cars can be quite fast from a roll. There is a guy in Detroit with a turbo Monte runnin 11's with slicks. He ran a 12 something when I was at the track last with him.

I would race him from a dig to 100. Anything else, you might have problems.

I dunno if this race ever happened but you better hope you have a tune on your TBSS. My wife's 07 MCSS has resonator deletes, JET MAF and FIPK CAI and let me tell you....its a beast. I can just imagine what it would do with a tune. My TBSS is tuned, CAI, Flowmaster with res delete and I'll bet she would stay with me on a street dig.
