I have true 3" duals (don't know why, waste of money) and it sounds good. My set-up consists of S/W lt's, no cats, 2 Magnaflow mufflers, and 2 magnaflow resinators (sp?). Now I just need some more motor power to take advantage of the set-up. Lot of money to do it this way! Single cat-back much cheaper and more practical without a power-adder. Anybody know what it would sound like if I dumped it after the mufflers and shit canned the other two cans? Too loud?

true duals are cheap if you buy the parts yourself also save yourself money. Dont let a shop rip you but stainless works has a 2.5 set up also but let me go on first.

get the magnaflow 5x11x28 muffler it comes in with dual 2.5 entry/2.5 exit with internal x pipe so you save money on not having to buy another muffler or x pipe.

Also if you do aluminized steel will be only 400 bucks at most for the parts. Mines stainless which is more and we did itat the shop. We have done a few dual set ups and heres what you need

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAGNAFLOW-MUFFLER-5-X-11-22-BODY-2-1-2-D-D-12568_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33636QQihZ007QQit emZ170135992690QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V

4 of these

then straight pipe you can get from a local shop not expensive at all

magnaflow 3.5 tips are about 50 bucks on ebay for 2 of them shipped
then exhaust brackets thats like 20-30 bucks

Now if you do stainless will be about 100 bucks more for everything you will need a shop to weld it all up which should be in the 200-300 range. Any other questions give me a hollar. Are you going to run catalitic converters? are you going to run long tube headers?? is your truck awd or 2wd? Answer me those bro ill get you into the right direction.

What was the general rule on power levels and exhaust size. a 400 crank hp motor is NOT restricted by a single 3" or dual 2"? I can't remember the rule. They have power ranges and what size single and dual exhaust are deal per power level. Does anyone have this laying around?

dual 2.5 will be fine.

Ok, I have a question...

1) Are the Kooks and SW headers about the same length?

2) Depends on the first question, should I go with a 8" or 11" (overall length) cat converter?

These will be going into 1 dual inlet magnaflow mufler so Im not sure how much room I will have once the headers are installed.. My setup will be similar to Tonys, ie- strait back, not directly under the tranny...

Wow, that looks good Joe... I guess from the looks of it, I would have enough room for the 8" or 11"... Im about to order the parts within the next hour, thats why I needed to ask... Thanks again- JE

You should have plenty of room. I am using the Kooks High Flow Cats on mine.

here is my setup as an alternative.....S/W LTH's with catless 3" tubing to a dual 3" inlet Magnaflow muffler with an internal X-pipe that sits in the stock muffler position with a single 3.5" exit to the 3.5" tubing over the axle.....

i had the 3.5" over the axle from a S/W 3.5" catback....ditched every thing else bought the custom magnaflow and had 3-bolt flanges welded at each header and at each inlet to the muffler.....SOUND BITCHIN.....this pass at the track has the new exhaust setup installed......

S/W LTH's to catless 3" dual inlet magnaflow to single 3.5" over the axle (http://media.putfile.com/freemaSSon-Denton-08-10-07-TBSS)
